Making the world a better place for the horses who need us.

Amaal

Amaal was discovered estray and placed with BEHS when his owners could not be located. He attended the 2015 Bluebonnet Horse Expo, met an adopter, and went to a new home. She returned him in March 2016 when she decided that he was too small for her. Amaal was 4th in the professional division of the 2016 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge and was adopted at the event. He was returned in the spring of 2017 as he wasn't working out for his adopter. He participated in the Non-Pro Under Saddle Division of the 2017 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge and placed 3rd. He was adopted at the Expo but quickly returned because he was too much horse for his novice adopter. After being returned, Amaal went back to his Challenge trainer. After a few months, she decided he fit so well in her family that she was not going to let him leave!

Training & Abilities
Amaal is very inquisitive and loves people and attention. He halters, leads, stands quietly for the vet and the farrier, lunges in both directions, comes when he is called and halters easily in the field. He bathes well, is comfortable with dogs and gets along very well with other horses. Amaal stands to be saddled and has had a lot of ground work done. Amaal was started under saddle by Amy Andreson for the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. He placed in the top 5 in the 2016 Challenge. Amy had Amaal going under saddle at a walk, trot, and canter. They’ve ridden in an arena, on trails, and at events. They’ve also been in drill team performances, and she’s ridden him bareback. Amy says he’s doing awesome! She says that he is very brave and curious, is very accepting of new things, and likes having a job, likes having something to do. He is a forward mover with very smooth gaits. He's spent four months in the summer and fall of 2017 with a foster home preparing for the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. They'e been riding in arenas, on trails, and over obstacles. Amaal is brave and curious and could make a great trail, pleasure, or open show horse.Amaal is a very sensitive horse. He's very, very light in his mouth and responds to the lightest weight and leg cues. He's too responsive for most novice or beginner riders, but he's an awesome horse for someone who enjoys sensitive and responsive horses. He could be an open show horse, trail horse, or endurance horse.
