Lazuli

Lazuli came to Bluebonnet when her lifelong owner could no longer care for her. She had been lovingly bred, raised, and cherished by the same person for her entire life and was mostly kept as a well-cared-for pasture pet. Sweet and affectionate, Lazuli thrives on attention and is happiest when she’s with her people. She arrived at Bluebonnet blind in her left eye, and when it began to cause her pain, the kindest choice was to have it surgically removed. She has adjusted beautifully and is now comfortable, happy, and enjoying life to the fullest. In 2024, Lazuli stepped into the spotlight, competing in the Non-Pro Under Saddle Division of the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. Her willingness to try, resilience, and gentle nature made her a standout. Lazuli competed in the Non-Pro Under Saddle Division of the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. Personality & Manners
Training & Abilities
Personality & Manners: - Sweet, affectionate, and loves attention - Comes when called in the pasture (especially if food is involved!) - Stands tied for grooming, baths, and hoof cleaning—even gentle enough for kids to handle - Loads in the trailer - Gets along with horses, donkeys, goats, dogs, and cats Training & Abilities: - Rides out confidently alone or in groups - Has been ridden on roads, trails, and in parades—cars, dogs, livestock, and “scary” objects don’t faze her - Listens well to leg and verbal cues - Safe for supervised beginner riders and kids; tolerant and forgiving - Enjoys trail rides and has blossomed into a steady, reliable partner. - Lazuli enjoys light trail riding and arena work. - She’s been ridden English, Western, and bareback - She willingly tries whatever is asked of her—including obstacles and ground poles - While she can canter, she prefers walk/trot work Background & Care: - Lazuli is an easy keeper but does best when fed separately to ensure she gets her full ration. Why She’s Amazing: Lazuli is a special little Arabian who’s full of heart. Despite losing an eye and adjusting later in life, she’s resilient, forgiving, and always willing to try for her rider. She’s just as happy on a quiet trail ride as she is being doted on in the pasture. With her kind personality and steady nature, she would be happiest as a gentle family or youth trail horse.
