Background
Ned Nickerson was transferred to Bluebonnet from another rescue so we could help him find his forever home. He was adopted but recently returned because he was a little too pushy on the ground for the children in his home.

This is exactly what the Training Challenge is designed for — giving horses like Ned the chance to learn boundaries, personal space, and better ground manners. He went straight into the Challenge, where he’s already getting the structure and guidance, he needs to become a respectful, well-mannered partner.

Why This Horse is Amazing
Ned Nickerson is a kind, willing, and incredibly versatile gelding who truly wants to be someone’s partner. He’s the type of horse who nickers for attention, loves scratches, and thrives when he has a job and a person to bond with. Ned has an impressive amount of exposure — obstacle courses, parades, long trail rides, ponying other horses, and even working in busy environments. He’s non‑spooky, and safe.
Under saddle he’s willing, fun, and capable, with a good walk, trot, and lope. On the ground, Ned Nickerson can get pushy if allowed, so he needs a handler who sets clear boundaries and maintains consistent expectations. In return, he becomes an unstoppable partner — smart, eager, and full of heart. Ned Nickerson loves variety, enjoys adventures, and is happiest when he has purpose.

For an intermediate rider wanting a horse who can do a little bit of everything, bond deeply, and grow into a truly exceptional partner, look no further.
