Personality & Manners
- Sweet, gentle filly who warms up slowly but bonds deeply.
- Very fast learner with a brave, curious nature.
- Gets along well with other horses; enjoys having a pasture buddy.
- Young, impressionable, and thrives with daily turnout and routine.
- Shows natural speed and athleticism.
Training & Abilities
- Difficult to catch when turned out but improves with trust.
- Nervous about fly spray, bathing, and having her ears touched.
- Needs work on standing quietly while tied, especially in busy environments.
- Learning to lunge on a lunge line.
- Being ponied by an experienced horse to build confidence, respect, and calm movement.
- Exposure to new sights, sounds, terrain, and obstacles while ponying.
- Learning to pay attention, respond to cues, and respect personal space.
- Learned how to bow.
- Goes over poles in‑hand.
- Introduced to obstacles and a low jump.
- Trailer loading: went from refusing to load → now walks in confidently, backs out calmly, and can load herself.
- Learning to back over a ground pole.
- Good with grooming; still improving with hoof handling.
- Needs continued work on tying, patience, and confidence.
- Buddy‑sour at times.
Care Needs & Behavior
- An intermediate handler is recommended. Zara is still young and can be jumpy with new people or sudden movements, so she benefits from a calm, confident handler who can provide consistency. With time and maturity, she should be ready to start under saddle in a couple of years.
Why This Horse is Amazing
Zara is a sweet, sensitive young mare with a bright future and a heart full of try. She’s incredibly smart, learns quickly, and has already accomplished major milestones — from mastering her bow to becoming a confident self‑loader in the trailer. She can be jumpy, buddy‑sour, and unsure with new people, but once she trusts you, she becomes willing, brave, and eager to learn.

She needs an experienced, calm, and patient owner who understands young horses and can guide her through her “I’m scared” moments without giving up on her. With consistency, kindness, and time, Zara blossoms. She gets along well with other horses, enjoys having a buddy, and shows natural speed and athleticism that could make her a great candidate for barrels or other speed events down the road.

Most importantly, Zara is a horse who tries. She wants to connect. She wants to learn. And she becomes braver every day. For someone who loves developing a young horse and watching them grow into their potential, Zara will be a great partner.
