Personality & Manners
- First to meet you at the gate; easy to catch and halter.
- Inquisitive, sensitive, and genuinely wants to please.
- Can struggle to stay calm and focused during work; attention can drift.
- Pushy when she feels trapped or pressured; dislikes feeling “stuck”.
- EXTREMELY drawn to other horses — can become elevated or aroused quickly.
- Calm, fair dominant mare in the pasture; balances herd dynamics well.
- Good with donkeys; not “mare‑ish” in temperament.
Training & Abilities
- LOVES trails — happiest outside the arena.
- Stands tied and ground‑tied; nearly perfect for grooming and bathing.
- Polite for face cleaning and full‑body hosing.
- Farrier likes her disposition; feet slightly pancake‑y (typical TB).
- Picks up all four feet.
- Leading politely; yielding hip; flexing neck.
- Lunging started — walk/trot/canter both directions.
- Ridden in western and English tack; snaffle bit.
- First ride in western tack went well.
- Trailers calmly; improved with repeated trips.
- Ridden in arena at walk/trot/canter.
- Ridden in open field at walk/trot.
- Introduced to obstacles; curious and willing.
- Lateral work in hand improving (shoulder yields, haunch yields).
- Ground ties with back foot in hoof jack.
- Trots beautifully — lovely movement.
Care Needs & Behavior
- Barefoot trial in progress — does well in pasture/arena but tender on gravel; wears scoot boots comfortably.
- Needs consistency, tune‑ups, and daily in‑hand work (30 minutes recommended).
- Intermediate rider recommended; experienced rider required when she is elevated.
Why This Horse is Amazing
Sailor Moon is a stunning, inquisitive mare with a huge heart and a deep desire to connect with her person. She loves the trail more than anything, meeting new sights with curiosity and enthusiasm. In the pasture she’s a calm, fair leader, and she greets her handler with a bright, willing attitude.

Under saddle she trots beautifully and enjoys working, but she is also sensitive, easily frustrated, and very drawn to other horses — when she becomes elevated, she needs a confident, experienced rider who can bring her back down quickly and safely.

Sailor Moon is smart, athletic, and eager to please, but she requires consistency, tune‑ups, and daily in‑hand work to help her stay focused and grounded. With the right rider — someone patient, confident, and committed to her routine — Sailor Moon will blossom into a phenomenal partner. For an intermediate rider ready to invest in a talented mare with tons of potential, Sailor Moon is absolutely worth meeting.
