Background
Rarity is a lucky little horse: she’s been loved and well‑cared for her entire life. Her owner adored her miniature horses and handled them with kindness and consistency. After a brief battle with cancer, she passed away, and her heir asked Bluebonnet to take in the herd she cherished so much.
Personality & Manners
- Naturally shy and prefers to hang back and observe rather than approach right away.
- Has handled a lot of recent change and is still adjusting to new people and routines.
- Curious by nature and beginning to come out of her shell as she gains confidence.
- Young (about two years old) and, like many youngsters, tests new handlers to understand boundaries.
Training & Abilities
- Can be a little difficult to catch at first due to her shyness, but once caught she is easy to halter.
- Leads well and picks up all four feet without issue.
- Has basic lunging skills and understands how to move out on a circle.
- Willing to go over obstacles in hand and shows curiosity when introduced to new challenges.
- Clearly has had prior training and handling; she arrived with a solid foundation for her age.
- Shows the elegance and refinement that could make her a lovely future driving mini with appropriate training.
- Brave and willing enough to excel in obstacle work, in‑hand challenges, or liberty training as she matures.
- Best suited to an experienced handler who can continue developing her manners, confidence, and skills.
- Thrives with short, positive training sessions that reinforce clear boundaries and build confidence.
Care Needs & Behavior
- Young and still learning appropriate boundaries, so she needs a handler who is confident, consistent, and fair.
- Has nipped and kicked when unsure or testing limits, but responds well to fair, consistent correction.
- Not currently suitable for children or novice handlers due to her age and boundary‑testing.
- Not good with the veterinarian at this time; she may rear or kick when receiving shots, but with a patient vet, slow introductions, and more positive handling experiences, this should improve.
Why This Horse is Amazing
Rarity is a beautifully built miniature horse—so well‑proportioned she looks like a perfectly scaled‑down full‑sized horse. She’s absolutely gorgeous, dainty, and elegant, catching your eye the moment you see her.

Although shy, she genuinely seems to like people and gets friendlier each time we work with her. She’s curious, willing, and steadily gaining confidence as she adjusts to her new life. She has a good mind, enjoys learning, and shows real interest in connecting with her handler.

While she would make a stunning companion, she’s the type who thrives when she has a job and regular interaction with humans. With maturity and continued training, she has the potential to shine in driving, obstacle work, or liberty training. For an experienced handler who enjoys developing young horses, Rarity offers the chance to shape a sweet, thoughtful mini into a truly delightful partner.
