Our Horses

Rescue. Rehabilitate. Retrain. Rehome

Jay

Jay is one of our Hurricane Harvey horses. He was placed with Bluebonnet after the Hurricane when his owner could no longer keep him. He moved into a foster home where we found out that he was broke to ride, and then he attended the 2017 Bluebonnet Horse Expo. He was adopted by someone who met him at the Expo to be used as a YMCA camp horse. Jay was returned in late 2019 when he developed some intermittent lameness and abscess issues due to the rocky ground at the camp. Jay is a friendly, easy going gelding that love people and gets along well with other horses. He loves to eat and enjoys apples for treats. He does not have great leg or foot confirmation, however, he is an excellent buddy horse. Thanks to Emily Herne Photography for the great photos of Jay!
